In general, a hardcover offers more protection and lasts longer. The ageing of a paperback can be reduced by adding a gloss or matt laminate to your paperback book.

Different materials cover paperback book printing

In our ordering app, you will find four different cover materials in different g/m2. Unsure which is the best choice for your paperback book? The materials you will find in our ordering app are:

• Silk MC: 200 g/m2, 250 g/m2, 300 g/m2
• Satin-finished MC: 200 g/m2, 250 g/m2, 300 g/m2
• Uncoated hv offset: 250 g/m2, 300 g/m2
• Uncoated and sulphate paperboard: 240 g/m2 one-sided, 280 g/m2 double-sided, 300 g/m2 one-sided.

Silk MC is a good option if the cover of your paperback book contains images or illustrations. As this paper type, has a smooth and even surface, print quality is high.

Do you use a lot of colour on the cover of your paperback book? Then consider using Satinised MC as your cover material. The smooth, coated finish of this material ensures good ink retention. This results in vibrant colours and good image reproduction.

Want to go for a natural look for the cover of your paperback book? Then go for uncoated hv offset paper. This material can have a certain roughness that gives your book an organic/natural look.              

If you want to give your paperback book a luxurious look, go for an uncoated sulphate paperboard. This material is thick sturdy and resistant to wear and damage. The thick nature of the sulphate board gives your cover a professional and sturdy look.

Paperback cover print finishes

To give the cover of your paperback book for printing a little something extra, choose between four different cover refinements:

• Single-sided glossy lamination
• Single-sided matt lamination
• Single-sided scratch-resistant matt lamination
• Single-sided linen lamination

Single-sided gloss laminate as a finish is a good choice if you want a glossy, attractive and durable look for the cover of your paperback book. It gives an extra layer of protection and a high-quality look.

Would you rather go for a matt elegant look? Or would you like a little reflection and glare on the cover? Then go for single-sided matt laminate.

To give matt laminate a little extra, you can go for scratch-resistant matt laminate. This combines the advantages of matt laminate with an extra layer of protection against scratches and wear and tear. This way, you increase the durability of a paperback book for printing.

A single-sided linen laminate as a finish is a good choice if you want to go for a cover with a unique texture with a vintage elegant look. Besides paperback books for printing, you can also find hardcover books, spiral spine booklets, stapled booklets, booklets with eyelet staples and much more.
