Different ways to get a T-shirt printed
In our ordering app, you will find two printing methods to get a t-shirt printed. Namely: screen printing and transfer printing. When choosing between screen printing and transfer printing, there are several aspects to consider. Namely:
- Budget
- Production time
- Colour usage
- Edition
Screen print
One of the big advantages of screen printing is that the thick ink used covers very well, resulting in very high print quality. In addition, you don’t have to worry about colours turning out differently from what you had in mind: with screen printing, you will always have a perfect match with your design. And even after washing at up to 40 ̊C, the print will still look like new.
Screen printing uses screen frames. This makes the start-up costs higher compared to other printing techniques, such as transfer printing. Does your design contain multiple PMS colours? Then keep in mind that multiple screen frames are needed, which increases costs. The production time is also longer because the print has to dry in between.
Transfer printing
With this printing technique, your design is first printed on transfer foil. This foil is then printed onto the clothes using a heat press. If your design contains many different colours, then transfer printing is the way to go. Also, transfer printing has fewer preparatory steps than screen printing, making it more suitable for small print runs.
Also, transfer printing lends itself perfectly to print runs where each garment is printed differently (e.g. sports shirts with different numbers and names).
