Code Engineer (Software Developer)

Handgemaakt met papier en door Print.com

An exciting adventure for experienced developers. Step aboard and join us on this international print journey with destination WOW! Print.com is building a global printing platform that connects suppliers, professionals and customers. In addition to developing online tools, we produce our products in-house and stand for reliability and providing first class service.

Route:
We would be excited for you to join our journey! We are looking for all kinds of features – and that’s where you come in. You know how to push the right buttons and make our features fly sky-high! Applications that you develop for our platform are top range. With that in mind, the sky’s the limit! In fact, we can leave it up to you to add new features, tools, and applications.

Hotspots:
We took the liberty of selecting some cool landmarks for you. Of course, there’s the standard stuff like (serverless) AWS and the well-known Command Line. Be sure to stop by Vue.JS, React and let’s not forget the latest software of Node.JS via TypeScript. This is one of the many benefits of being a relatively new company. Most of your colleagues use MacOS or Windows, but if you look closely you’ll spot one or two adventurous Linux lovers. We like to regularly update the team so that is much appreciated. This gives everyone a chance to create their best coding path.

Excursions:
There’s a direct connection between our HQ in Deventer and our other offices in the Netherlands and abroad. We strongly encourage internationalisation by experiencing foreign cultures, artisan productions, state-of-the-art machines, and streamlined processes and getting to know the crew all over the world.

Itinerary:
Your day starts between 08:00 – 09:00. After grabbing a cup of coffee or tea, it’s time to get your ducks in a row before the daily stand-up starts. You’re the code engineer, the software developer in charge of constructing our latest feature which made the life of print professionals that much easier. As a (pleasant) result, your inbox is overflowing with positive reactions. What a great morale booster for you and your team! After sharing success stories, it’s back to your day of code-cracking. A merge request here, giving some feedback on the code of a fellow developer there… Your mind wanders off to the upcoming dev day on Friday. You have the freedom to do whatever you wish! An ingenious tool to import contacts from Android or iOS to the web application? Or maybe help a fellow coder with a problem. The world is your oyster. Your team has reviewed your code and it’s time to close your laptop at the end of the day.

Travel companions:
Our home base in Deventer, NL accommodates more than 100 print nerds and 15 of them are your fellow male and female developers. Our worldwide headcount is more than 300 crew members. Most of the crew speaks Dutch, but we see an increase in the number of international travellers joining us on our journey. Luckily, almost everyone speaks English which makes sharing adventures that much easier and we would be excited to share a couple of Dutch words to help you along your integration journey too.

In-flight benefits:
This trip has it all. It’s important to keep hydrated when busy doing all those codes, so feel free to help yourself to ice-cold water and excellent coffee throughout the day. We love to kick off the weekend together with Friday drinks. Remember to get out of your chair, away from your screen and grab some lunch with your colleagues. Karin, who operates the main area, prepares a delicious lunch every day.

Accommodation:
Teugseweg 18a, Deventer (the Netherlands) can be your 2nd home. From your workplace, you have views of the marshlands of the Ijssel as far as the eye can see. Every day a different beautiful view, with changing water levels, wild animals and many species of birds. If this isn’t a good enough reason to stay a little longer, it will be for the breath-taking sunset because you are sitting in the front row.

Transportation:
We have over 200 parking spaces on site. There are frequent buses from Deventer CS to the office. We are also a short 8-minute bike ride away from the main central station (and the centre for a drink after work) for those cyclers.

Local culture:
Deventer is part of the Hanseatic League and served as one of Europe’s most important centres for publishing in the 15th century (hence the nickname ‘printing city’). Its historic city centre, cosy square, and many activities make Deventer a lively city with beautiful surroundings. The Print.com crew has an average age of 33, a mix of 8 nationalities and, is just the right blend of experienced print nerds and young, ambitious techies. Embrace the start-up mentality and discover your own growth path.

Price:
This ticket to adventure won’t cost you a penny. In fact, we’ll pay you for the experience you’ll acquire. Transportation costs are covered too. And to put a smile on the face of your future (elderly) self, a donation to your pension tip jar is also part of the deal.

Practical information:
You will get 25 vacation days to catch your breath on this journey. Be sure to pack loads of ambition, motivation and passion, but leave some space for all the knowledge, experiences and contacts that you’ll pick up along the way. These experiences will definitely help you in the long run.
